World’s smallest 45 W ‘green’ power supply has medical and industrial safety approvals (Sept 10)
XP Power today announced what is believed to be the world’s smallest open frame 45 W AC-DC power supply. Setting a new benchmark at this power level, measuring just 50.7 x 76.2 x 26.7 mm (2 x 3 x 1.05 inches), the ECS45 single output power supply is 25% smaller than the current industry standard of 2 x 4 inches. All models have a no load power of less than 0.3 W, helping the end equipment comply with internationally recognized energy efficiency standards. In addition, these convection cooled units are highly efficient, typically 87%, resulting in less waste heat to dissipate. The lower profile ECS25 model provides 25 W output within the same footprint. They can provide full power output up to + 50 degrees C without the need for any external fans or forced airflow and operate up to + 70 degrees C with derating.

External medical and IT power supplies meet latest energy efficiency standards (June 10)
17th June 2010 - XP Power today announced the launch of the AEF and AFM series of external AC/DC power supply units. Designed for a wide range of IT and portable medical equipment, the units provide single outputs with power output between 100 – 150 watts. These highly efficient units, up to 94% for the AEF series, comply with the latest energy efficiency standards such as Energy Star Level V, EISA2007 and CEC2008 in the United States and the ErP Directive across Europe. These standards stipulate limits for average energy efficiency and the maximum no load power consumption, which is less than 0.5 Watts for both the AEF and AFM. By using one of these new units, manufacturers of end systems will be able to ensure that their product meets the internationally recognised energy efficiency standards.

Miniature DC/DC converters offer a choice of SMD package options (March 10)
XP Power today announced the availability of its ISF, ISG and ISL series of low cost miniature surface mount DC/DC converters. The ISF and ISG 1 Watt series measure just 15.24 x 11.2 x 6.5 mm (0.60 x 0.44 x 0.25 inches). Together with the slightly larger 1.5 Watt ISL model, these ultra compact devices take up the minimum of board space allowing designers to reduce the size of their applications. Also, with their industry standard pin out, they are ideal as a drop-in replacement for existing designs. The ISF & ISG models are available with alternative pin out and package configurations to order.
